Cupping Massage at City Spa Tiel

City Spa Tiel · Cupping

At City Spa Tiel, we use high-quality silicone cups from Bellabaci, a brand with over 15 years of experience in responsible dry cupping. Unlike blood cupping (Hijama), your skin remains completely intact. Moving the cups over the skin results in a deep massage effect that stimulates blood circulation and lymphatic flow, reduces tension and promotes overall wellbeing. We offer cupping in three areas: face, back, and legs — each with its own effect.

What is cupping massage?

In cupping massage, vacuum cups are placed on the skin to create a type of suction. This stimulates blood circulation, reduces muscle tension, and enhances general wellbeing. The treatment is usually not painful, although some people might experience discomfort or a slight tingling sensation due to the suction.

What does cupping massage do?

Moving the cups over the skin (moving cupping) results in a deep massage effect that stimulates blood circulation and improves lymphatic flow. Among other things, this breaks down fat deposits and reduces cellulite. It also draws impurities from the connective tissue to the surface, helping to reduce muscle cramps. Through tissue stimulation, adhesions are loosened and oxygen-rich blood finds its way to the skin and muscles — reducing pain and accelerating recovery. Our massage is mainly a moving tissue massage, combined with classical massage techniques.

Treatment duration and prices

Not yet familiar with cupping massage or want to try it first? Then book a 25-minute try-out. This way, you get a good idea of what the treatment entails. For optimal effect, we recommend the 50-minute session. Want to have multiple body zones cupped? Then book the 80-minute treatment.

Exercise and cupping

Consider your physical activities, both before and after the treatment. On the day of cupping, it is better not to engage in intense exercise — light activities such as walking or stretching are fine, but no heavy strength or endurance sports. After cupping, it is wise to wait at least 24 hours before engaging in intensive sports: immediate exertion further stimulates blood circulation, which can exacerbate bruising or irritation, and your muscles need time to recover from both the massage and the cupping itself.

When can you cupping?

Cupping can be supportive for:

  • Tired, painful, and overworked muscles

  • Cellulite

  • Detoxification

  • Back and joint pain

  • Tightening of the skin (e.g., after pregnancy or weight loss)

  • Loss of facial skin elasticity (wrinkles)

  • Scar tissue or stretch marks

  • Fluid retention, edema, and lymph stagnation

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Migraine or headache

  • Stomach problems, digestive issues or menstrual complaints

  • Regulation of the autonomic nervous system

  • Sciatica

  • Insomnia and stress

  • Reduced energy

When should you not (just) do cupping?

Cupping is discouraged in the following situations, only possible under supervision, or prior consultation is needed:

  • Hernia (possible under the guidance of a therapist/physio)

  • Pregnancy (discouraged, or only under guidance)

  • Cancer (minimum 5 years remission and in consultation)

  • Blood diseases

  • Damaged or open skin

  • Varicose veins

  • Phlebitis

  • Kidney failure or history of it

  • Liver cirrhosis or history of it

  • Heart disease or history of it

  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Diabetics who self-inject

  • Energy deficiency

  • Use of blood thinners

  • Fillers and permanent fillers (these can be removed by the treatment)

Are you unsure if cupping is suitable for you? Indicate this on the anamnesis form or contact us in advance — we will think along with you.

Does cupping massage hurt?

Most guests do not find it painful, but rather an intense, deep massage. We build up the pressure with you.

Do bruises remain?

This can happen, depending on your skin and intensity. This is normal with cupping and disappears on its own within a few days to a week.

Do I need a doctor's note?

In cases of fatigue, long-term complaints, or certain health situations, a doctor's note may be needed before we can perform cupping — we discuss this in advance via the anamnesis form.

Can I combine cupping with a regular massage?

Yes, for instance, with the combination treatments cupping back and face or cupping back and legs (both 80 minutes).

What is the difference between 25 and 50 minutes?

The 25-minute treatment is intended as a first introduction; for an optimal result, we recommend the 50-minute version.

Is cupping suitable for both men and women?

Yes, cupping is suitable for everyone. For cupping legs, however, shaved legs are necessary for proper execution in men.
