Essential Specials combine massage techniques with pure essential oils, carefully chosen for the effect you seek: relaxation, energy, or recovery. At City Spa Tiel in Van der Valk Hotel Tiel, our team works with oils that not only smell good but also genuinely enhance the massage.
In this massage, we use essential oils such as lavender, marjoram, and spearmint to truly “release” negative energy and pain issues. Lavender is calming and soothing, marjoram regulates pain and provides relaxation, spearmint has a cooling effect and promotes the healing ability of the (dry) skin.
Essential immune system-boosting massage
Here we use essential oils such as clove, thyme, and eucalyptus to strengthen your immune system. Clove boosts immunity and helps fight pathogens, eucalyptus opens the airways, and thyme provides relief from sore throat and cough.

Are these oils also suitable for sensitive skin?
The essential oils used are natural in origin; if you have sensitive skin or an allergy, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate this.
How long does an Essential Special last?
Just like most massages in our standard offer, these last from 50 minutes; inquire about the exact options when booking.
Will the treatment room still smell of the oil afterward?
The scent will gradually dissipate over time; we air out the room between treatments.
