Backyard is your ultimate cycling companion app that turns your hotel stay into a local adventure. With Backyard, you can explore a series of carefully curated cycling routes around your hotel and discover unique hotspots that tourists usually miss.

Each route is enriched with must-see hotspots, such as hidden viewpoints, popular cafes, historical landmarks, and local meeting places.

Do you have to pay for the app?

No, the app is free to download and use. You will also be able to continue using the app for free in the future.

Are more cycling routes being added?

Yes, there will be many more routes added to the app for each hotel! The app has just gone live, so the number will increase significantly. Keep an eye on the app!

Which data is collected from the user?

The data we have from you are the data you have entered yourself when signing up (email address, password, first and last name, gender, age, bike expertise, and bike type). In addition, we collect information about how you use our app. Such as which features you use, which routes you cycle/access, how much and how often you cycle, and information about the device you use. We will NEVER share sensitive information with third parties.

How are these data used?

To communicate with you and to promote the safety, integrity, and security of the app. Also, to improve our product and to measure and analyze the effectiveness of the app.

Where can you provide your feedback/bike experience?

Users can leave their feedback at the reception, they will make sure that it reaches the app makers.

Bike rental

Do you enjoy going out in nature? Van der Valk Hotel Tiel offers you the opportunity to enjoy a lovely bike ride. This way, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful Betuwe landscape and its many beautiful spots.

We have a free, non- overkapteLockable bicycle storage (limited capacity; if our lockable bicycle storage is full, you can use our covered bicycle storage outside). In addition, we have charging points for your electric bike, however, we recommend taking the batteries to your room and charging them there if possible.

For even greater convenience, you can come to us for an e-bike.

Rental rates

  • Bicycle with gears: 1 day €17.50

  • eBike (electric bicycle): 1 day €27.50

Please note: The above prices are based on renting for one day. Reservation is not necessary, but recommended to avoid disappointment. Bike rental is only for hotel guests.
